Being the savvy and detail-oriented people you are, dear readers, you have no doubt noticed that this Weekly Workout Summary neither lands on a Monday, nor does it contain 7 days of workouts. The reason for this is that the 365 day challenge is now officially complete!

Just because the 365 day challenge is over it doesn’t mean my commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle ends. It simply means that I will no longer be tracking and reporting on my daily workouts. Which, in all honesty, was my least favourite thing to write about anyway.
Many of you have asked what my new workout schedule will look like for 2014. At this point I’m thinking of adopting Bob Harper’s 3 Days On, 1 Day Off method, whereby you workout for 3 days in a row, followed by one day of rest, and then 3 days in a row again.
What I like about this approach is that it does seem a healthier option in terms of allowing your body the rest it needs to rebuild, especially when weight training/lifting is involved. I also like the discipline of knowing you can’t skip more than 1 day.
And even though the pressure of an every day workout is now off, I’ve realized I actually enjoy moving. So even on ‘rest’ days, I’ll likely be out walking for 45 minutes to an hour.
I like the way I feel after a good walk. So why not walk each day?
Keep moving!
xoxo nancy
“Between you and every goal that you wish to achieve, there is a series of obstacles, and the bigger the goal, the bigger the obstacles. Your decision to be, have and do something out of the ordinary entails facing difficulties and challenges that are out of the ordinary as well. Sometimes your greatest asset is simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else.”

Congratulations! We really need to set up the Rim to Rim hike this summer with John and a bunch of other BLR alums. Keep up the great work. I have enjoyed reading your posts throughout 2013!
All the best in 2014 and beyond!
Todd
Thanks Todd! And in 100% in on the Rim-to-rim hike with you guys. I will convince the Russian to come too! 🙂
I’m soooo envious of your upcoming trip to Mt Kilimanjaro. If I had an actual income coming in this past year I would have joined you, without question. I will shed a tear each time I see updates from you guys. So bummed I’m not doing it! 😦 I will suck it up though and cheer you guys on during your magnificent climb!
Just over a week until Kili!!! It’s going to be a big adventure!! I’ll post pics when ever I can get connected to the web! Take care!
Go team!!

Sam, my soul-sister, kindred spirit, and partner in crime… Thank you for being both a cheerleader and motivator/inspiration.
I look forward to cheering you on in your second half and also borrowing some of your workouts, challenges and goals!
2014 will be fantastically awesome for us both!
xoxo

WordPress does some odd things sometimes. Especially when I use it with my phone!
At the beginning of this I never thought I would find such an awesome friend and kindred spirit! I can’t wait to see what you do next 😀
2014 will definitely be amazing for us both!
Xxx
I bet logging that shit drove you crazy. It would have sent me a little mental. Handy for us on your journey though!!! I’m aiming for 6 days per week exercise this year with one day off and one food cheat day. Off to the gym today to get started!! Woot woot Nancy! Congrats on this amazing achievemt. You know I think you are awesome already but it’s good to tell you again. Woman: YOU ARE A WARRIOR!!!! xoxo
Love, love, love you Rach! Thanks so much for being such an awesome cheerleader. I’m looking forward to hearing about your conquests this year! And, having just downed 2 slices of yummy homemade pizza (courtesy of Mr. Enthusiasm) I am now off to hit the elliptical for an hour. On my day off. What is wrong with me? 🙂
hahahaha you’re addicted now!!!
Seems so. Ugh…
🙂
WOOT WOOT !!!!!
Congratulations girl !!!!!!!
Just an amazing achievement. Even just reading about it over these last months has taught me so much about willpower, excuses and self-belief. Well done and thank you so much for making your journey public. I hope you have an amazing 2014 xxxxxx
Rose, I’m so, so glad I took it public, too. I am not sure I would have gained all the learnings I did, had I not wrote out my thoughts. I was never a journal’er, so without the blog, the writing is unlikely to have happened.
The writing itself revealed so many truths, and then the comments, feedback and exchanges with all of you taught me that much more.
The old adage of “the journey is more important than the destination” never resonated as it does for me right now. It’s all about the journey.
Thank you for sharing in mine. And thank you for letting me share in yours. xoxo
Woooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

I am looking forward to seeing what you do next! I can only imagine what new heights you will reach this year 😀

And I see your comment was so super awesome WordPress posted it twice! How awesomely awesome! 🙂
Congrats Nancy! I think the 3 days on 1 day off is a great schedule and looking back it is about what I manage each week already. I also am looking forward to reading your new posts in 2014. 🙂
Lisa
Total common sense approach, Lisa. I also like that it allows me the flexibility so that if I know I’ve got a crazy travel day I can choose to go 4 days straight and have the travel day be my rest day. Saves me having to do planks and push ups at 2am. 🙂
Woot woot from Latvia! 🙂 Congratulations! I might take a 3 day on, 1 day off approach to wine. But not cake. That’s definitely a 7-day thing… 🙂
Agreed Linda. Totally 100% agreed. Bread and cake are must-haves. Hence the exercise continues… 🙂
I need to get on that I think. Much as I try to convince myself that lifting a glass and a cake are exercise, I don’t really believe it… 😉
Hey, exercise is exercise. 😉
Thinking I might take up darts… 😉
Perfect as it encourages simultaneous drinking!
I’ve been told that I play darts like most people throw javelins so it’s actually quite a workout 😉
Ha! Sounds like me playing Wii tennis or volleyball. I actually jump and swing violently. My family tried to explain that I only need to slightly flick my wrist. Oh well
Ha ha! Yes, I find it’s best to do most things vigorously and violently 😉 You should see me playing pool!
Oh we would make quite the team then.
If you ever come to LV, we can start one 😉
Come to my LV (Las Vegas). We’re sure to have more opportunity for debauchery there. 🙂
I saw The Hoff there 😉
I promise much worse (better?) than that.
Better than The Hoff? What could be!? 🙂
Ahhh… you’ll have to visit to find out. My LV offers all brands of special fun.
I’m intrigued now 😉
Or perhaps it’s just me as I tend to find trouble wherever I go. And since I spend 40% of my time there, it stands to reason I would find a lot there.
Trouble is my middle name 😉
We would be dangerous together.
Definitely! I always attract trouble-makers as well 😉
Ahhhh! congrats! So awesome, now you will have time to write that book we talked about! And I like the new blog name 😉 Alleviates all my fears of you disappearing anytime soon 🙂
Nah, I’ll stick around for a while. Friday’s post will be a round up of gains and losses this year. That’ll be the official 2013 wrap post and then it’ll be inward and upward. 🙂
I need to stop procrastinating and start thinking about best approach to package this thing as a book. I will start soon. Soon.
Way to go Nancy!!! You are amazing!!!
Thanks – and right back at’ya! xoxo
Congratulations! You did it! Good luck with your new workout goals. I have no doubt you’ll keep them. 🙂
Thanks Carrie! I think the toughest part will be setting new goals. Or more precisely, separating the business-as-usual / day-to-day healthy living stuff from actual challenges.
Happy New Year Nancy and CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 🙂
Many thanks Laurel! Happy New Year to you!
Congratulations Nancy! What an amazing accomplishment. I like your new exercise approach, because you deserve a day off now and again. I love to walk too. I don’t do it as often I should and I definitely should, my jeans are all a bit snug now from the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas extravaganza. I think I blame Halloween the most. 😉
Thanks Kerry! Halloween is definitely the start of the extended season of less-than-healthy eating. 🙂
I know you do a crazy amount if yoga, so that is awesome at strengthening your body and mind. I plan to start more yoga practice in 2014 as well.
That is awesome, I look forward to reading how your practice evolves. I know yoga is definitely strengthening my body, the woman who did my massage yesterday even commented…sweet! however, I definitely need to add in some cardio to lose the lil spare tire I’ve acquire and I’m going to make an effort to do that next week when my daughter goes back to school during my son’s “quiet/non-nap time” lil stinker needs to nap again! 😉
The cardio is also important for better heart health, so even when you’ve deflated the tiny spare tire, def a good habit to maintain. Good luck with the re-implementation of the nap time. 🙂
Nancy I am so proud of you! Woot woot indeed! I confess I was a little worried you’d stop blogging at the end, I’m glad you’re continuing! xx
It seems I’ve fallen in love with writing and with exercise this year. I don’t plan to stop either. 😉
Thanks for your support Helen!
I think you are amazing…I have trouble committing to a week or a month and you went out there every day for a year and you blogged about it every day too.
You make me feel a combination of pathetic (for not being as committed)and inspired…:) Congratulations to you!
You are far from pathetic! You chose travel and adventure, which kept you very busy in 2013, too.
Hope you’re heading to Belize soon – it’s flippin’ cold here right now!
