The upside to a green Christmas is that you don’t need snowshoes to go hiking. The other upside is stumbling upon decked out Christmas trees along the trail. Every year someone (or several someones) brings the spirit of Christmas to Rouge Park.
And brings delight to all those dog walkers, hikers, trail joggers and amblers who pass.
You’d have to be The Grinch not to feel joy at this sight. Check out the tiny little wreath at the foot of the bed!

Keep moving,
xoxo Nancy
That is very cool that someone takes the time to bring Christmas to the trees!
every year, Patrick. it’s so sweet. and it’s approx. 5-6 trees that they decorate!
Merry Day After Christmas Nancy! Living here in the desert southwest it is obvious that you don’t need snow to get into the “mood.” Thanks for sharing your photos! ~Kathy
Nope, you don’t *need* snow, but I sure do like it for just this one week per year. No such luck though! 🙂
This is a Christmas tradition that I hope catches on. There is a rail trail near home that has been decked out in a likewise fashion. Merry Christmas, Nancy.
I live that there are people out there who take the time and effort to do this Maggie!
Somebody in the neighborhood put ornaments on the trees. It’s actually kind of moving.
Love it, John!
There is a tree in our area that gets decked out, and it is nice and frestive to look at as we drive by, but it never gets cleaned up or taken down, so by July it is nothing but litter and crap and not so festive!
I guess it’s the thought that counts. 🙂
This is a cool thing 🙂
I couldn’t agree more. 🙂
Hope your Christmas was magical, Sam!
It was very nice thank you 🙂 i hope yours was too…it looked a lot of fun from your pictures!! 🙂
Xmas Eve night is always a lot of fun at my in-laws place. Great seafood dinner followed by the donning of Ugly Xmas sweaters as we open gifts at midnight and then the look on my brood’s faces as I unveil the matching pajamas for that year. 🙂
Pinterest just took it to the next level as I now have inspiration outfits AND poses to plan from. 🙂
Hahaha that sounds both fun and vaguely twrrifying!! 😀
Mostly for the two men, who clearly get the worst of it. (ie. I have bought ladies pajamas both years, just getting larger sizes for the men). 🙂
Hahaha yes! I can see why that wpild be teerifying!!
They are such good sports! I’m very lucky to have them!
Very nice! That makes hiking worth it! I’ve yet to burn off my Christmas eating, including many Mimosas! 🙂
This was my first movement since my Xmas Eve ab workout (uncontrollable laughter). Photos were shared on FB. It was my most evil photo shoot yet. 🙂
Happy holidays Nancy!!!!
Thank you, and right back atcha!
Decorated trees, nice, but the bed with its small inhabitants really made me simle 🙂
That was one of the ornaments in the full tree shot I posted, Vilma. 🙂
What a great ornament 🙂
That wreath is precious! Thanks for a great share of Christmas Spirit.
I just love stumbling upon these type of surprises when I’m out in nature, NH. It’s awesome that there are people out there who take the time to bring this sweetness to strangers.
The spirit of the season shines bright! Lovely decorations again this year! And happy you got out hiking 🙂
The hike was just what I needed: several steep inclines to really get the heart rate up. Finding this cute display just made it even cooler. 🙂
I’m loving this green Christmas and mild winter weather. It’s so much nicer to get out and enjoy a walk or run. I’ve seen several of these decorated trees on various trails … I’m guessing it’s done by ‘regulars’ and it always gives me a smile when I encounter it unexpectedly 🙂
It seems like this patch of trees at the beginning of the Rouge Park Mast Trail gets done regularly, but some of the de oration this year we’re awesome, like the bed with the critters in it. 🙂
I agree – that was a nice touch 🙂
What a lovely post Nancy. Hope you’re enjoying the holidays!!
Enjoying food, family, food, relaxation, food, entertaining/hosting, food…
Do you notice a theme? 🙂
Hope yours was lovely, too, Laurel!
So sweet! We came across a similar thing while riding last Christmas. Someone had put decorations on 3 tiny pines on a steep and sharp turn on a mountain highway! Really does make you smile! 🙂
The people who do this stuff are awesome!
Awesome, Nancy. And here we are, after a green Christmas, looking at a green New Year’s…. whoda thunk it after last year?
I would have like some snow on Christmas, but I’m very happy that it’s so green (and mild) right now. Hoping it stays this way, but knowing that’s just silliness. The worst is yet to come… 😦
I’m in Ottawa, freezing over here – but hardly any snow at all. Won’t last, I figure. Make me want to go to Vegas…
You and me both, brotha. Damn this real job thing.
Ahh nice! And I’m worried who picks them up after the holidays? 🙂
Some of them are very nice, Jhanis (like the bed thing), so I’m guessing whoever put them up will come back to claim them for use next year. 🙂
That is so great! I love it! Such thoughtfulness
I know, right? This may sound silly but little things like this restore my faith in humanity.
That is so cute! Especially the last one! What a nice idea – and amazing that people take the time to do it! 🙂
It started snowing here today. Sigh.
No snow here yet, Linda, but it went from +10 the past few days to -1 today. Made for a chilly lunchtime hike. 😦
I can imagine! I’ll have to imagine as I’m going to be in hibernation for the next 3-4 months 🙂
