Thank you! A snap from the other day’s evening walk. This is where the river meets the lake. One lonely fisherman on the other side of the river bank, beneath the bridge. It was very peaceful.
and it is strange, the fisherman is much easier to see in the reflection 🙂
I like the selective colour too 🙂
thanks Sam. I was very pleased with how it turned out. I have another all black & white version, with more shading, but I did like the effect of that one splash of colour.
it definitely lifts the picture, I think without it a lot of detail might get lost 🙂
I’m trying to snap as many pics as I can on these walks in case this neighbourhood ceases to be mine…
I don’t blame you!
I forgot to take any at the weekend!
Will you be back to that spot for another dance event this summer?
no, it is a once a year deal!
ahh well…I am pilfering (with permission) photos that others took…
A fisherman. This is where the river meets the lake, just a few steps from my street. All the other people fishing ate on my side of the river, but this guy was by himself across the river.
Were you interrupting his, um, personal time? 😉
Doubtful. There were another 6-7 people fishing where I was standing to take this shot, plus another 15-20 along the lakefront trail, steps behind me. Also his overalls would have made that pretty inaccessible, I think.
I’m glad! It was so strange to see him on the other side of the river. It must have taken some work to get to the spot he was in, but his reward was that he was the only one fishing in that spot.
I have never taken that river/lake-side walk and not seen at least a few people fishing – regardless of time of day. I imagine fishing for some is akin to yoga or hiking for others (i.e. meditative/mind-quieting time).
Being a fisherman I can attest to the fact that it is very relaxing. But alas, I gave up fishing to focus on my family. Now I can return to what once was…
Lemonade from lemons, Patrick. Enjoy going back to your passion.
That is exactly what I am doing with the ginormous lemon. 😉 Life gets better with each day!
See how I managed to repress the overwhelming desire to type a description of the place, what was going on, etc.??? (Shush…don’t tell me that I jumped on that shit the moment the first comment came in. The important thing is that I was wordless for the post itself!)
Come soon (before we sell this house). It’s just 2 mins outside my front door, where the a Rouge River empties into Lake Ontario. All the shots I’ve posted seem to be of the lake or the waterfront trail and none of the river. This was shot at dusk – even the full colour version was pretty stunning.
A great shot, Nancy! And after an unfortunate encounter with a creepy old man in overalls I can say with certainty that “personal time” is possible… 😦
Yes, it was in the middle of a department store (lingerie area of course). Once I calmed down I called security and they escorted him out. Really creepy though.
Lisa, that is creepy and scary. 😦
Yep… there are some icky people out there. 😦
We had one sicko on the subway in NYC years ago. Held a folded newspaper in front of his groin area, waited until I looked over at him and then moved it, exposing himself. I, being me, immediately barked out, “OH FUCK NO! YOU SICK BASTARD! He stepped out as soon as the doors opened, smirking.
Good for you!!! I also have a story about a man “trying on” tutu’s when I was a teenager working in a Ballet supply shop… An eye opener for sure!
What’s with these freaking pervs? Do that shit at home!
Yes! Not in front of strangers when all you’re wearing is tulle and Converse! Or newspaper, or overalls…
Thanks Joanne! I was really pleased with how it turned out. Hope Germany is fabulous! You’re not missing much in the way of weather here: it’s been cold and rainy since you left.
I love this!

good girl!
Awesome! Who is standing on the rocks?

I could climb that.
Come on over!
This brings me much peace. 🙂

That’s something my, ahem…world record holder fisherman son would do! He will do what it takes to find a perfect spot. 🙂
I like it!
Beautiful! Just lovely!
Thanks Kate!
Peace . . . like a river. 😎
I admire his tenacity making his way over there. No easy way to access that spot.
Hi Nancy! I’m guessing this is not in Vegas! 🙂 Nice shot!
a 2 minute walk from my front door — where the Rouge River meets Lake Ontario.
They say the worst day fishing is better than the best day working.

I couldn’t be happier for you.
That is SO frickin’ gorgeous!!
Thanks so much for your kind words!
I can’t imagine you wordless 😉 Very nice pic though!

Ha, I did notice that 🙂 You’re fooling nobody!!
Do not judge me, Miss-1,000-words-about-a-writing-process-that-doesn’t-exist. 😛
Well, I blame you for that 😉
Nice deflection!
It’s OK – LOTC will be blaming me next week. Blog hop my arse – blame chain is more like it 🙂
I told you, it’s like one big chain letter. Participate or 27 years of bad luck and 47 pairs of leopard print shoes will befall you.
I think I might dress up in full-on leopard print regalia for my last post…
Oh please, please, please make this happen.
Need to find a well-stocked shop and a friend to come to the changing room with me 😉 It’s not like I’m actually going to buy any of it 😉
Do this. Please.
Very compelling photo!
Why thank you, madam!
Gorgeous picture, Nancy. I see that it’s in Canada. I’d love to take that walk.

Oh SICK! 😦 Hope you made it out of there safe and not too traumatized.

I just threw up in my mouth a bit.
Cool photo! Who is it?
Unnamed fisherman.
Great photo. I love the splash of single colour!
Thanks Joanne! I was really pleased with how it turned out. Hope Germany is fabulous! You’re not missing much in the way of weather here: it’s been cold and rainy since you left.
Which photo editing software are you using? I’ve played with several so far on my iPad and I’m not enthusiastic about any of them.
I mostly stick to snapseed and aviary as my go-tos. I’m using the free version of both.
Simply breath taking!!!
Thank you!
